Italian Vow Renewal

It was my dream to return to Cinque Terre, a place we fell in love with on our Italian Honeymoon back in 2012, to renew our vows. I wanted to bring our whole family on an Italian adventure to celebrate this milestone. It was my first time planning an event overseas, and in small town Italy, it was trickier than I thought it would be. I’ve had a photographer in mind for literal years, back when I discovered his work via one of my favorite wedding blogs. We booked Luca Vieri, and as you can see below, it was the best decision. I called around to have a bouquet made, and there were no flower shops near by, so ordering a single bouquet proved to be quite difficult. Instead I brought some floral supplies and hoped I could “make it work.” The evening before our renewal, I took a walk and gathered blooms from the side of the road to create a lovely, bright bouquet. On the walk I also scouted the sites for our ceremony. I knew I wanted something with a view and also private, so we could share these moments intimately. It turned out that the small parking lot right across from our wonderful hotel, Il Parco B&B, was the perfect ceremony spot.

Remy slept, while the bigger boys walked me down the aisle. Kyle and I recited some really lovely words to each other. It was a beautiful, magical private moment. I regretted not writing our own vows for our wedding, so this ceremony meant a lot to me.

After the ceremony, we hopped in the car, actually piled into our photographers sedan, and headed down to the sea and town of Monterosso loads of photos. Once the baby woke up, our middle, Monroe, fell asleep, so we actually have very few photos with the whole family awake and even less with everyone awake and happy.

We ended the evening with dinner at L’Ancora della Tortuga. It was spectacularly delicious and a very special treat to experience as a family. I will remember this day forever. I am so grateful that my family obliges in my grand visions without too much complaint, because this milestone was everything I dreamed of and we walked away with the most beautiful photos to remember it by. I would be so lucky to commemorate every decade of marriage with a very special celebration!
