Favorite Kitchen Island and Pendant Combos

The kitchen, the heart of the home. In my case, it’s slightly less desirable than my dream kitchen, but I work with what I’ve got. If you’ve followed this blog, you know I am a BIG fan of painting your kitchen, I’ve transformed four kitchens with paint, one rental, two we owned, including this house, as well as my mom’s kitchen. But there are a few other ways I love to make your kitchen more you and more functional. Updating lighting is a big no-brainer. The perfect pendant hanging over a kitchen island can be the jewel of the kitchen. And if you don’t have a luxurious 12 foot island in your kitchen, don’t fret, there are many many moveable options to give your kitchen more organization, counter space and function in general.

Back when I graduated college and moved to New York City, my roommate and I moved to a cute little walk up apartment in the East Village. The tiny kitchen was open to the tiny lining room, there was no definition in the space. So the first piece of furniture I ever spent more than a couple hundred dollars on was a moveable kitchen island. It was the perfect piece for our tiny space, to create definition, add storage and add seating.

Even if you don’t have a big dream kitchen, you can still add function to your space with a portable island and a lighting upgrade. Today I have teamed up with Joss and Main to share a few of my favorite island and pendant combos. Scroll though and let me know which are your favs!
