I’m at it again. We all know I can’t keep myself out of the One Room Challenge game. I will be linking up with the dozens of other bloggers and Instagrammers who are also participating. We will document our progress over the next 6 weeks both here and on my Instagram account. This go round I will be renovating our basement bathroom.

Our little Monroe turned 1 on September 5th! We celebrated with a Lion King themed birthday. It was a magical day celebrating our sweet boy. The talented Megan Schaap captured the details, family and guest of honor so perfectly!

My bedroom was a room in my home that hasn’t gotten much love since we moved in. I don’t think I bought one new item for this space. And it looked fine, but I certainly wasn’t excited about it. I set out to do a mini makeover to restore my excitement for our bedroom. Budget was high priority here, so I knew there weren’t going to be major purchases. I also had a few DIY art ideas in my back pocket.

A couple weeks back I shared our mega deck update. Well, we’ve been very busy in the yard, because I also took on the wooded section of the back yard. I had my sights set on taking it from an over-grown mess to a back yard camp-like oasis.

Remember a few months ago when I posted about my backyard overhaul plans? Well, I made it! It took basically the whole summer, exactly what I didn’t want to happen, but I am in love with everything about this makeover. Today I’m going to tell you about the deck.

I redid these shelves as the very first project when we moved into our house, but the terrible yellowish, ancient thermostat always bugged me and I had to crop it or photoshop it out of every photo. I finally decided that it needed an update, and this thermostat cover, disguised as modern art is the perfect solution!

I started a podcast!! It’s been a long time coming, but today I officially launched, “Hyphen Life!” It’s a podcast about professionals that do more than one thing. I have never settled for doing just one thing and as I make my way in the world I have discovered there are a lot more of my multi passionate people out there. In today’s episode I tell my story.

I’ve been trying to get it together to get on here and give you a mid-year update, but life got crazy! As you know, this year has been wild! It’s simultaneously dragging on and moving at the speed of light. Coming into this year I had a calendar full of weddings, two clients I was doing other work for regularly and my hours increased for my interior design work. We were planning to take a European vacation, pay off credit cards and even remodel a bathroom. And then, Covid.
