One Room Challenge Week 8 // Studio Reveal

It might sound silly, but the upgrade and organization of this office might just be the lynch pin I need to live a more organized life. This room had all the pieces before to work for me, however in the year and a half since we’ve lived in the house I never quite got around to properly unpacking and organizing. It became a dumping ground, after each project ended I dumped it on the work table, shuffled things around, but never fully put things in their place. I am thrilled to have had the support of the One Room Challenge community once again to help me see this through. Thank you to Collette from The Lipstick Lens for capturing my labor of love.

As I mentioned most of the pieces in this room are the same as they were before, but with some major, and some minor upgrades. Now I feel like I have a well organized space that functions AND is beautiful!

If you haven’t been following along, be sure to check out how I got here.

The first thing I did was rip down the drop ceiling. I also did this last round of the One Room Challenge in my basement living room, read how I did that here. I used a paint sprayer to paint the exposed ceiling and I painted the walls my favorite white, Polar Bear by Behr. The other major change I made was to tear up the carpet and paint the cement floor. I am obsessed with this change! Rust-oleum sent a can of the Rock Solid Home Top and Base coat. I already knew I loved this product as I used it our powder room and laundry room. For this room I used the Steam Gray base coat. It is definitely more of a white than a gray and lighter than I had envisioned, but I love it! FYI I used the matte top coat and it is quite slippery, so I would not recommend the glossy finish.

After the paint, I did A LOT of tidying, organizing and purging. I shared all about my closet make over in week 6. You can see the satisfying before and after below. Once I had the freshly painted, and newly organized space it was time for the fun part, styling! I had so much fun making and collecting art from some of my favorite local artist friends, Rayanne Barker, Paige Rochefort and Amy Carroll all found a place in this space.
