One Room Challenge Week 7 // Tiny Upgrades

I am so excited to write that I am done with the One Room Challenge! Yes, you read that right, I am finished! A week early! If this is your first time popping in, hello! and Thanks for stopping by! I am giving my office a major revamp! It began as a sad basement bedroom and I upgraded it to an industrial-inspired work oasis. I am actually really thrown off by what to share with you this week. I feel like I’ve given up so much already! I shared the major changes I made to this room with paint and the overhaul I did on the hoarder level closets. Now I’m going to share a few of the micro updates I made to make this space feel exactly the way I want it to.

WHITE DOME LIGHT

Actually the lighting in general is a huge, mostly unnoticeable upgrade. I was so proud that all on my own, with the coaching of my brother and some YouTubing, I was able to change out the old, really bad, recessed lighting. There was also a wired, but closed electrical box in the center of the room, waiting for it’s moment above my work table. The white dome light I really wanted (the version I could afford) was sold out. So I ordered this light, which actually came in a pair, and spray painted it white. The gold is the perfect piece of jewelry in this room.

WORK TABLE REDO

My work table is actually a pub table I bought off Wayfair (similar) years ago. It was black with a dark wood top. Before I even moved it in my house when I first bought it, I spray painted the frame white. I lived with it like that for 5 years, and when I made over my office this time around, the dark wood didn’t jive, so I removed the top and cut a piece of plywood to swap in and lighten the space.

DESK VIEW

My desk looks out to the area under our deck and the rest of the back yard. I have been doing TONS of work in the yard and have started to tackle this area too. It’s not quite done, I would like to get a pretty flowering bush and add edging and mulch, but it looks a lot better after I pulled the weeds, and moved
