One Room Challenge Week 3 // Etsy Lighting Shops
I cannot believe we have already made it to Week 3 of the One Room Challenge. This week we actually started working on the kid’s bathroom. You can see my plans on Week 1 and my debate on the shower tile pattern on week 2. This week I’ll be talking about lighting, but first I want to give you a recap of the last week. The plumber recommended by my father-in-law, who gave a reasonable estimate, moved away and the company the first guy recommended gave a quote four times his price!! Needless to say, we did not hire them, and weren’t sure if the project was going to start on time. We had originally planned for demo this past weekend, but would need the water properly turned off before hand. I had a third plumber come in on Friday . I thought his quote was reasonable, so I asked if he’d do the prep work there on the spot! The were able to do the work and we spent Saturday ripping apart the bathroom! She is demoed and ready for a new tub which, if all goes well will be installed at the end of the week!
That’s it for the updates on the progress, now for the fun stuff! I’m talking about lighting today. I spend lots and lots of time looking at lighting for clients, and one of my favorite resources is Etsy. The options are endless, the pricing is usually good an, items are often customizable and they are made by artisans. In my studio bath renovation, that I completed last year for the One Room Challenge, used the pretty light pictured below, by DL Design Works. I actually had my heart set on another light by them for this bath, but their shop is currently closed. I have found that quite a bit in my Etsy search, with the home renovation boom, many shops are bogged down with orders and lead times have increased, they’ve temporarily closed their shop, or they are not taking custom orders. If you are shopping on Etsy, or anywhere on the internet, for home goods, shop early and be flexible. That said, I have been on the hunt for the perfect option B and have found some great contenders. Below are a few of my favorite Etsy shops for vanity lighting.
