Budget Staircase Update
With a couple cans of paint and a week, I transformed one of the most important architectural elements in our home. I am obsessed with the lightness the change brings to the space. The wood treads keep some warmth in the room and the black spindles and banister provides the perfect contrast.
Sunshine Alley - Grand Rapids Installation
Earlier this year, Marissa Fellows and I, teamed up to participate in the World Of Winter installation series in Downtown Grand Rapids. Sunshine Alley was a colorful and happy interactive installation and an ode to canceled travel plans. We brought a much-needed little vacation to the city in the dead of winter!

DIY Lego Table
I finally hit my breaking point of having Lego sets scattered on the coffee table for weeks on end. So I decided to design and build a table for my son to construct and be creative on. This table is a perfect balance of form and function. The light-weight top lifts off to reveal lots of separated organization compartments and it’s bold legs are updated and on-trend. As a maker and a mama, it was so sweet to watch Oliver get excited about something I made for him.
Taylor + Joe Intimate AirBnB Wedding
It’s been just about 6 months since Taylor and Joe tied the knot! Helping these two wonderful people bring their plan B to life was truly an honor, and I think they’d agree that it was an epic (in a good way) pivot. After their initial wedding plans were canceled because of Covid, Taylor and Joe found an Airbnb with a magical property to host about 20 of their closest friends and family. This house was a gem, not too far from their home. It had a wooded area, a beautiful deck and a coy pond and those were just the spaces we used!
Tiny Pantry Organization
Our pantry isn’t much more than a large cupboard, so being orderly to maximize space and function is an absolute necessity, check out how I organized and rearranged to do just that!
2021 Word of The Year
My 2021 word of the year is “rise.” 2021 is going to be all about building. I’ve laid the foundation, now it’s time to raise the walls! I have a calendar full of amazing couples, we are working on some exciting projects at KLH and I am kicking off the year by building a grant-funded art installation for the city of Grand Rapids! I am prepared for things to not go my way, but at this moment is seems like all arrows point up!
2021 Resolutions
That first post of the year when I tell you all my biggest hopes and dreams for the year. I have been doing this ritual for ages and I’m not going to stop now. The practice of writing down my goals is immensely therapeutic to me and sharing them with you gives me some accountability. Life in 2020 sure took an unexpected turn. My business took a big hit and trying to keep up with the blog while still making money and taking care of the kids was a lot. It still is a lot. But, I know what I’m working with this year and, while my goals are ambitious, I have factored current circumstances into said goals.
Kayla + Julio Intimate Backyard Wedding
This dreamy boho backyard wedding was full of special details. Kayla hand died the table runners and hand lettered the place cards and table number tiles. Cassie from Cass and Jean Flower Co. went above and beyond with the blooms for both the ceremony and reception. Kayla and Julio also involved many special people close to them.
